Do you have a yard or a parking strip that you’d like to turn into a vegetable garden but don’t have the time or the know-how?
Are you a gardener who has the skills but no land?
Have you spotted unused land that you think could be used for gardening?
Land Link is for you!
Land Link is an Urban Land Army project with a nice idea:
We connect people who have land with people who want to garden.
What?
Gardening is becoming wildly popular these days - seed sales are through the roof and waiting lists for community gardens can be years long. People want to garden, but may not have a patch of ground (or balcony or rooftop) to call their own. Other people have land and would like to eat their vegetables, but they don’t have the time or inclination to grow them themselves.
Land Link helps to bring all of you together!
How?
We do it with a Land Link Map where you can plot land that you want to share with a gardener, or plot an area that you want to garden.
Once you make a connection, it is up to you to sort out the terms of your garden share agreement. Think about access to water, tools, whether you will garden organically or not, or whether you will share the harvest or the work. There are no hard and fast rules here, but just make sure you both have the same expectations and agree to a plan BEFORE you start digging!
By the way, we also provide:
- Land Survey Kits that help you to identify and assess suitable land for vegetable gardening.
- An online Action Room where you can start your own Urban Land Army and get to work on breaking new ground.
- The supplies and information you need to get mad skills and grow a garden that would make your grandma proud, the first time out.
